Five Pianos, Ten Hands
Students in Books 3 and up participate to form groups of up to 5 pianists. A variety of music is performed including a Sousa march, slower pieces, rags, Christmas tunes and the traditional "Sabre Dance.” Four rehearsals are required in order to create a good ensemble of each group. This experience provides pianists a wonderful and unique way of music-making in a group situation--something not always available for them. The students enjoy marking their own progress each year through the multiple piano repertoire from the beginning Christmas songs, “Sabre Dance” and beyond. This is always a favorite event for the students.
